Decarbonising construction - MachineMax decarbonisation survey
The built environment is responsible for 40% of the UK’s total carbon footprint, and the construction sector is responsible for almost half of this amount hence decarbonising construction should be made a priority.
Project:
MachineMax recently conducted a survey with several construction, mining, and aggregate companies to better understand their decarbonisation priorities and challenges, with a particular focus on how they are managing their Non-Road Mobile Machinery (NRMM) to help reduce emissions.
Importance:
The UK government has also implemented legislation such as the Climate Change Act 2008, which sets legally binding targets for reducing carbon emissions in the UK. This further emphasises the importance of decarbonisation and the need for businesses to take it seriously.
Potential opportunity:
It is promising that the respondents recognise the significant role of their off-highway fleet in contributing to their carbon emissions. This awareness presents an opportunity for these businesses to implement more sustainable practices in their fleet management, such as investing in low-carbon vehicles, promoting eco-driving techniques among their operators and technology solutions that support fleet optimisation.
