MachineMax Selected as 1 of 5 Innovation Accelerator Partners for High Speed 2 (HS2)

The UK has committed to achieving a 78% carbon reduction target by 2035, HS2 are committing their efforts to this target by setting a 50% carbon reduction target compared to construction baselines. This is empowering and challenging HS2 and their supply chain to innovate to reduce carbon.

This is the third cohort of innovation with the programme being delivered alongside the Connected Places Catapult. MachineMax are working under the ‘Net Zero’ mission which focuses on data utilisation and use of digital technologies that can drive efficiencies in use of materials; energy and fuel; and management of construction site operations to help reduce carbon emissions.

If you would like to discover more about the progressive Innovate Accelerator programme, please come and attend the ‘Net Zero & Safety Demo Day’ on the 9th of December either in person or virtually. You will get a chance to hear from all 5 companies within the cohort and the impact they are having on the project. Details can be found below:

Innovate at HS2 Accelerator: Net Zero & Safety Demo Day - Connected Places Catapult

MachineMax has been selected for this scheme due to their award winning equipment management platform and universal telematics sensors for off-highway fleet, that work with customers to measure key variables like fuel burn rate, idling, utilisation, location and emissions to help them identify the key actions needed to increase productivity; reduce costs; whilst taking them closer to net zero.

Jonathan Kelly - Innovation Manager at HS2 says:

“MachineMax are delivering solutions across the supply chain, contributing to HS2’s Carbon Net Zero future and have already secured trials with multiple HS2 contractors.”

HS2 is the largest infrastructure project in Europe, delivering 345 miles of new high speed railway connecting eight out of 10 of the UK’s largest cities. To achieve this a huge number of players need to be involved to ensure the success of the project and this is something MachineMax understands. Through our in-house technology we can aggregate all fleet data onto one simple to use platform, thus giving the customer actionable insights.

Since HS2 launched its Innovation Accelerator a year ago, two cohorts of five tech start-ups and SMEs have benefited from 4 months of continuous support from Connected Places Catapult. The scheme was put in place to help develop technology while receiving commercial advice and technical support. The model is working as the majority have gone on to be successful and deliver proof of concepts with HS2 supply chain companies and joint ventures.

Mark Thurston, CEO of HS2 says:

"This fantastic initiative allows some of Britain’s brightest SMEs and opportunity to help innovate the HS2 project and wider industry. Those who join the Accelerator have an opportunity to leave a footprint on HS2 and challenge us to improve how we do things. In order to continually develop and evolve, we need to embrace these great ideas to deliver HS2 cleaner, smarter and faster.”

MachineMax cannot wait to share and develop ideas with the help of Connected Places Catapult so be sure to follow our media channels to stay up to date.
